Stacy Mann explores children's wellbeing versus mental health, co-regulation and practical strategies for Early Years practitioners and parents.
· July 3, 2026

Stacy Mann has over two decades of experience in the Early Years sector. Stacy began as a nursery nurse and evolved into leadership roles as a manager and children’s centre manager. She is also an assessor, teacher and mentor.

She is currently the Director of Learning, Quality and Operations at The Early Years Company.

In this session, Stacy delves into the real difference between children’s wellbeing and their mental health, and what that means for how we read and respond to behaviour in our settings. She shares a memorable case study of a child whose “erratic” behaviour turned out to be anything but, along with practical, relationship-led strategies for supporting children, your team and parents.

In this episode you’ll:

  • Discover why wellbeing and mental health are not the same thing, and why that distinction matters
  • Hear a real case study showing how a child’s “erratic” behaviour wasn’t erratic at all
  • Learn why most challenging behaviour says more about the adult’s response than the child
  • Find out which simple self-regulation tool Stacy calls her “number one” and how to make it playful
  • Understand the parent conversation that changed how Stacy approaches every family she works with

Watch the full interview to hear Stacy’s river of wellbeing analogy and discover practical, relationship-led ways to support children’s mental health in your setting.
