Bernie Landels has over 25 years experience as an educator, leader and health practitioner, a Certified Infant Massage Instructor for 20 years and is currently training to be a Rhythmic Movement Training (RMTi) Consultant.
Unable to work face-to-face during the pandemic she embarked on a journey of research and discovery and wrote the most amazing book – Finding Their Feet – and it is so much more than just about feet.
Bernie works in private practice in Oxford, UK, working with all ages but focusing on pregnancy massage and sharing the joys of infant massage.
In this interview, we start by discussing primitive reflexes that affect the feet and the knock-on effect if they aren’t integrated in young children. Bernie explains the type of activities that Early Years professionals can do with children to help integrate reflexes and the benefits for the children.
We discuss myths about footwear, what good footwear looks like and what defines a good shoe. We finish by discussing toe walking, what to look out for and how to support children. Bernie has some great top tips and strategies for healthy and strong feet that can be used in every setting.
