Explore how photography can become one of the richest and most versatile creative media in your Early Years setting. Pete shares practical advice, fascinating examples and important safeguarding considerations that will leave you ready to hand over the camera, and see your children’s world through an entirely new lens.

In this episode you’ll:

  • Discover why photography is the most familiar medium children encounter — and why that makes it such a powerful tool for learning and communication
  • Find out how one elective mute child spoke her first words in desperation to explain what her photograph meant
  • Learn which cameras work best with young children, why kiddie cameras should be avoided, and where to find quality alternatives for as little as £20
  • Explore how photography can be used for child consultation, end-of-year self-evaluation and following children’s schematic interests
  • Understand the simple safeguarding procedure every setting should have in place before children use cameras independently

Watch this episode to discover how photography weaves together communication, creativity, mathematical thinking and genuine children’s voice in ways that few other media can.
