Susan Taylor, founder and director of Tailormade Training Solutions is a registered and qualified Social Worker with over 20 years experience as well as a trainer and college lecturer. She is an NSPCC Accredited Safeguarding Children and Child Protection Trainer and an Accredited Safer Recruitment Trainer.
Susan has been an Independent member of a London Local Authority Fostering Panel for the last 10 years and is a Local Authority Foster Carer carer. She also sits on a Local Authority Autism Partnership Board.
In this interview, Susan explains the importance of early intervention, what the impact of COVID-19 will be and how this will affect the number of children needing a child protection plan.
Susan explains in detail how to plan for a multidisciplinary meeting or conference, where you may have speech and language specialists, social workers and possibly the police. She gives advice on discussing this with parents beforehand, what are some of the questions you should be prepared to answer, what paperwork to have to hand and how to be a confident advocate for the child or children. Susan also gives advice for when you may need to raise questions at the end of the meeting. We finish by discussing some strategies around safeguarding in an Early Years setting, so you will always be ready for the future.
Note that this is a Masterclass, so is 80 minutes long, with lots of information that you may want to make notes on. So do make sure to allow enough time to watch it all!
