Polly is a freelance concert presenter, workshop leader, trainer, cellist and teacher, based in Sheffield and working across the UK, with a particular specialism in music for children under eight years old.
She regularly works with the London Philharmonic Orchestra and founded a concert series for babies, toddlers and their grown-ups called Concerteenies. Polly also designs special music projects for schools, INSET days, Early Years settings and children’s groups.
In this interview, we discuss how children react to being amongst musicians as they play and the huge advantages of experiencing live music sessions for children. Polly has some great ideas and strategies for elevating your music sessions from the ordinary to the extraordinary, including how to structure sessions, types of instruments to use and where the focus should be.
