Marina Robb. Marina is the founder and Managing Director of Circle of Life Rediscovery Community Interest Company and The Outdoor Teacher Ltd, both leading organisations that aim to transform education and health through nature.
Marina has more than 30 year’s experience in outdoor learning and nature connection and is co-author of the book ‘Learning with Nature’ (foreword by Chris Packham), a must-have book for Forest School & Outdoor practitioners, and ‘The Essential Guide to Forest School and Nature Pedagogy’ (foreword by David Sobel) which contains everything you need to know from theory to practice.
Marina co-chairs a Community Benefit Society which manages a community woodland (CBS), used to provide access to nature for marginalised groups. She believes that everyone should have the right to access nature.
In this episode, we discuss the many different aspects of Forest School and how this Approach can benefit children in every aspect of their learning and development, whatever the ‘forest’ may look like! Marina explains how nature is a great way to connect with sense of place, sense of belonging and the changing of the seasons throughout the year. She also has some great ideas for observing natural cycles with children and stimulating their curiosity, investigation skills and sense of awe and wonder around nature.
