Kate Moxley has worked within the Early Years sector for over two decades and has both an Early Childhood Studies degree and hands-on experience.

As an accredited Mental Health First Aid Instructor, Kate specialises in mental health and wellbeing – working with staff teams to create mentally healthy workplace environments.

In this interview, Kate explains how Mental Health First Aid is just as important as other forms of First Aid, because we need to be able to recognise when maybe people are struggling, before it becomes a problem. This should start from the top and having managers that are positive about creating a mentally healthy workplace, embedded in the culture of the setting. Kate has some very practical ideas, from policies and performance management to being a good role model to understanding that mental health changes from time to time.

Kate launched her own consultancy in May 2017 and has recently become an MHFA Instructor.
