Jess Gosling on International Teaching

Jess Gosling is a well-established international teacher, now about to embark on her fifth international teaching experience in Poland. Jess wrote her international teaching guide in 2021, after establishing a highly successful Facebook page and group, 'New to International School Teachers'. She loves to write and her articles can be seen in the Times Educational Supplement or on popular blogs such as WomenEd and TalkPastoral. She hosts a weekly show on TeacherHug radio, 'Postcards from Teaching Overseas’, with the aim of using another medium to support teachers nervous to make the transition abroad. In this session we discuss Jess’s book and how it can help you if you have any questions at all on teaching internationally – from how to choose schools, banking and attending social events. Jess has also undertaken action research projects, aimed at supporting children who have English as an Additional Language (EAL) and she explains how this research has informed her pedagogy in this area. Of course, we discuss the huge opportunities when working internationally, from learning languages, to being immersed in culture and being able to travel.
