Bev Bacon and Kelly Hill co-founded The Key Leadership to provide leadership support for leaders and managers in the Early Years sector. Bev Bacon has worked in the Early Years for 20 years across a range of roles from practitioner through to management, training and Human Resources. Kelly Hill has worked in the Early Years sector for her entire career, previously managing settings, she has written texts for Heinemann and developed online training material.
In this interview, we discuss executive function, both as a skill that children need to master and as a framework for effective leadership. Bev Bacon explains how we can support children’s executive function and Kelly Hill explains how a leadership pedagogy can be developed under the executive functioning areas: managing yourself as a leader; managing workloads; delegation and workforce planning. Both Bev and Kelly finish with some great ideas for managers and leaders.
